Tony Kim is the eldest son of Korean parents who immigrated to the USA in the late 1960’s. Although he was raised in the West, his family instilled in him an understanding of his Eastern heritage.

Tony’s parents encouraged him to follow in their footsteps and pursue a career in the sciences. Nevertheless, as a freshman at Brown University, Tony’s interest in the arts was galvanized by his liberal arts electives. His interest in the theories of modernism and postmodernism and their influence on the forms of mechanical and electronic reproduction ultimately convinced him to pursue photography full time after graduation.

Tony Kim's photographs are a reflection of his cultural diversity. He seeks to apply a Zen like balance to the essential elements: light, form, scale, and composition. At the same time, he brings an understanding of Western culture and styling to his work. The result is uncluttered images that are expertly crafted in every detail while still maintaining the modern look and feel of today.

Tony Kim has contributed to prestigious publications such as Elle UK, W Magazine, Allure, Vogue Korea, W Korea, Elle France, Vogue China and Vogue Spain . His advertising clients include Bergdorf Goodman, Theory, bebe, Morgan, Etam, Paper Denim, Shiseido, and Lee Jeans. Tony Kim has also photographed numerous celebrities including Janet Jackson, Heidi Klum, Chloe Sevigny, Cyndi Lauper, Nelly and Isabel Lucas.

Tony is based between NY and Paris.
