Tony Kim on set

Tony Kim — Director & Photographer

Tony Kim is a filmmaker and photographer working between fashion editorial and narrative film. Through TurnKey Pictures, the production company he co-founded, he is in pre-production on two features he wrote and will direct: a supernatural thriller and a historical biopic.

His latest film, JewCE: The Jewish Comics Experience — about the Jewish artists who built American comics — won Best Documentary at the DeRose-Hinkhouse Awards and has screened at San Diego Comic-Con, the Metropolitan Opera, and a special cultural event at the New York Times.

Tony's photography has appeared in Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and W; his subjects include Elisabeth Moss, Amy Adams, and Richard Madden. A Brown University graduate with a background in science, he has always been driven by the same impulse that draws people to both disciplines — a need to understand what makes us tick, what lies beneath the surface, and why people are the way they are.

That curiosity is what brought him to narrative filmmaking. His scripts dig into the ugliest corners of the human condition — a supernatural thriller about fate, choice, and the breaking of generational trauma, and a historical biopic about a man so consumed by his own need to be right that he sends innocent people to their deaths rather than admit he is wrong.
